DON’T MOW DOWN THE DAISIES.

Marco, with the expression of a child that has found out a new world, showed me a transparent plastic box, full of daisies, clouded by the condensation that dotted with droplets every corner of the case, and, with an expression full of astonishment, told me: “Look, daisies are crying…”. At that moment, I understood that his way of thinking, apparently childish, was actually a display of a great love for life in all its forms, even the most humble. The scythe which trims the grass is not different to the “Great Scythe” of “The Reaper” which in every moment mows down human lives without distinction of age, gender, space or time. At all infinity time and infinity space, during the human life, the rampage suddenly arouses and destroys human lives. Its pawns are often the youth, young people who offer themselves to death, begetting foolish disasters and huge suffering. Humanity seems to be divided into two ranks: Destroyers and Creators. I like the word “creator” because the act of producing is peculiar to man, and is the fruits of his physical and mental exertion. I don’t know which are the destroyers, the death’s valets… I see them in the dark area of the Michelangelo’s Last Judgment. On the contrary, I’m s ure about creators’ identity: Artists, who know restoring life even in an empty sheet. Some philosophers will say that life nourishes on death and vice versa… Maybe is that… But surely, Marco and I prefer believing in humaneness which acts every day, in every moment, for life.
