We are delighted to announce that highly esteemed Italian art historian, anthropologist and curator Salvatore Settis will present a pre-opening lecture at Dublin Castle at 5.30pm.
The theme of his lecture will be the groundbreaking ‘Serial Classic’ and ‘Portable Classic’ exhibitions which he curated for the Prada Foundation in Milan and Venice.
Both exhibitions examined the inspiration of classical art in contemporary art.
Salvatore Settis has directed the Getty Research Institute of Los Angeles and the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa. He is chairman of the Louvre Museum’s Scientific Council. Considered the conscience of Italy for his role in spotlighting the importance of the national cultural heritage. He is the author of ‘The Future of the Classical’and other books on art history as well as a regular contributor to major Italian newspapers and magazines.

Siamo lieti di annunciare che lo stimato storico dell’arte, antropologo e curatore,
Salvatore Settis, presenterà una conferenza pre-apertura al Castello di Dublino alle 17.30.
Il tema della sua conferenza sarà la mostra “Serial Classic” e “Portable Classic” che ha curato per la Fondazione Prada a Milano e Venezia.
Entrambe le mostre hanno esaminato l’ispirazione dell’arte classica nell’arte contemporanea.
Salvatore Settis ha diretto il Getty Research Institute di Los Angeles e la Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. È presidente del consiglio scientifico del Museo del Louvre. Considerata la coscienza dell’Italia per il suo ruolo nel mettere in luce l’importanza del patrimonio culturale nazionale. È autore di “The Future of the Classical” e di altri libri di storia dell’arte, nonché collaboratore regolare di importanti quotidiani e riviste italiane.
